We will use cane and broomcorn to make several decoratively wrapped brushes.
These brushes have a variety of uses, like cleaning desks and tight spaces. If you decorate pottery, dip it into tinted slip for beautiful brush strokes on ceramics or ink for drawings. Hakeme means "brush stroke."
Broomcorn is a type of sorghum and is a traditional fiber to make brooms. Stiff and straight at one end, and wispy at the other.
We will be using nylon, broomcorn, and cane to make the brushes measuring from 8 - 14" each. There will be undyed broom corn available if you plan to use it with wet materials and several dyed colors if you want a more decorative piece.
Materials students need to purchase or bring from home: Shoes with grip or grippy socks, because we'll be using our hands, minds, and feet in this workshop!
