Bag making is a lot of fun and especially gratifying when made with your own handwoven fabric. You are not limited to handwoven cloth, however. Commercial fabric or a combination of both will still allow you to create a beautiful little bag of your own design.
For the purpose of consistency, we will be using canvas or similar weight cloth for the main body of the bag in this class (samples will be available for you to choose from in the studio prior to the class). You will only be required to provide your handwoven for the outer cover/flap and your lining fabric.
Jan will take you through the process of making this small crossbody bag from start to finish. You will receive a copy of the Buki pattern with written instructions, pictures, and template sheets. We will use pattern pieces, which will allow you to plan your layout before you cut. The finished bag measures 7-1/2” H x 4-3/4” W x 1-1/4” D. It is the perfect size for carrying a small wallet, your cell phone, and keys.
