Weaving with Specialized Tools: Rail Reed, Nami Stick, and more!
In this afternoon workshop, we will learn warp and weft manipulation techniques by using uncommon weaving tools. We will study our looms and accessories to discover what our equipment CAN do! Looking at our equipment with a fresh perspective allows creativity and originality to flourish. Contemporary tools such as Rail Reed, Nami Stick, Open Reed, and Sectional Rigid Heddles will be explored as simple alternatives we can use and create to transform the expected outcome of our cloth.
Participants in the workshop will be able to study and analyze the numerous samples for inspiration and there will be two pre-warped looms for a “hands-on” opportunity. Although beginners are welcome, to get the most from the workshop, knowledge of “loom speak” will facilitate faster understanding with these techniques.
